Scarborough Slams GOP’s ‘Out of Touch’ Closing Message: ‘What’s Wrong with You?’
EXCERPT:
SCARBOROUGH: "And by the way, Mika, this is exactly what Karl Rove is warning about. Don’t let Donald Trump go out on the road. You people who are talking about sending him out there, this is a terrible idea because every day he’s going to say something else that’s going to hurt Republican candidates. And if you’re in California and you’re trying to figure out whether to vote for a Republican or a Democrat right now, all things being equal, well, this certainly doesn’t help Republican candidates chances. And also, again, he’s got more things to worry about, right, than, than going around and deeply offending people in California, and I’ve got to say across the country. You’ve got gas prices at record highs, you’ve got diesel prices at record highs. Just telling people, 'Hey, don’t worry about it. This is just short-term pain. Don’t worry about it. It’s worth it. It’s worth it. You know, by the way, if they do get nukes, let them annihilate Los Angeles and San Diego. But it’s worth it.' I don’t know that that’s a good closing message for a Republican Party that is faring worse in polls than — you know, yesterday there was a Gallup poll that showed, I think, 11-point division between Republicans and Democrats on the generic ballot test. You have Dr. Oz going on Fox News lying about the price of butter, saying, 'Oh, it’s only a dollar.' Laura Ingraham goes, 'Where are you shopping?' Even Fox hosts are going, 'Wait a second. What’s wrong with you? Like, how out of touch are you?' And we’re seeing exactly how out of touch they all are in this final run."
