U.S. Scrambles to Pull Off ‘Urgent’ Evacuation of Bombers Due to Iran-Backed Plot

LEIGHTON: “Yeah. If they had thought everything was still going to be okay, they probably wouldn‘t have moved the aircraft. But there seem to be intelligence and law enforcement indications, both through U.S. sources as well as U.K. sources, that indicate that there may be more activities being planned. And the suspicion, of course, is that Iran is involved in these activities. And one of the other indicators that this was a very quick move is the fact that the U.S. refueling aircraft were scrambled in order to help these aircraft get back to their home bases. So that was clearly done on a moment‘s notice. And because of that, you know, it seems pretty clear that the U.S. Authorities, as well as British authorities, thought that this was a very serious threat in this case.”
