Sen. John Kennedy on Education: We Have to Find Out Which Teachers Can Teach and Pay Them

‘Find out which of our teachers can’t teach, and either teach them how or tell them to find a new line of work’

RUSH EXCERPT:
KENNEDY: "I appreciate the ambassador coming to Louisiana. I hope — I hope he spent a lot of money while he was here. Rahm has a big brain with big ideas. He — what I appreciate about him is that while many members of his own party want to sit around and debate whether a man can breast feed, rahm wants to talk about important things like education. I think he understands that it’s — it’s important how much money you send to school, but it’s also important how that school spends the money. I think we both agree that we have to find out which of our teachers can teach and pay them. We have to find out which of our teachers can’t teach and either teach them how or tell them to find a new line of work. The ambassador was very tough with the teachers unions in Chicago. We’ve had a lot of progress in Louisiana. We emphasized the basics, reading, math. We hold our kids accountable. We have standards, and we lift up our teachers and it’s working."
