Rahm Emanuel on Latino Voters: This Election Is a Referendum on Trump and the Republicans Who Have Given Him a ‘Get Out of Jail Card’

EMANUEL: "Well, yes. In short order, but it’s more important than that. One, this election is a referendum election on President Trump and the Republicans have given the president a get out of jail card pretty clearly and all of the corruption and affordability issues have all come together, but we have to prove as a party which is what happens, I think, after the election when we win, that we can bring the change that the voters have asked for. Not just a referendum, but setting up, actually, what happens in 2028 by bringing change. Take the issue of corruption. I’ve laid out a five-point plan. A ban on stock trading for all three branches of government. No prediction markets for anybody involved in the three brnches of government. Age retirement, 75. Fourth, a mandatory blank trust, and fifth two years after you leave government you cannot do the red kushner rule. A $20 minimum wage by 2030. So this is a referendum on Donald Trump and the Republicans. The next two years, if we win the majority if we win, which I’m strongly con id fident about deliver the change. We deliver historic numbers. Do we have a brand problem? Yes, we have a brand problem. We have to prove we cannot just fight Donald Trump, but we can fight for America and that’s something the Democrats have to prove because for the last 12 years, we’ve allowed Donald Trump to occupy the frontal lobe of our brain and that’s just not good enough. American people and their future should occupy our focus and our attention."
