Hasan Piker Says Kathy Hochul Was Pressured to ‘Tax the Wealthy’ by the NYC DSA

PIKER: "I participated in this in some respects with the — with the initiative to continuing the pressure on Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York. Kathy Hochul was not invested in taxing the wealthy in any way, shape or form, but alongside the New York City DSA, we did phone banking operation and we continued to call constituents to urge them to call Kathy Hochul's office to demand these changes. And, you know, through a process of concessions, we arrived at the pied-à-terre tax as a somewhat acceptable substitute to an outright billionaires tax."
