Panetta on Hegseth’s 20% Cut of Top Officers: The Last Thing You Want to Do, in the Middle of a War Is ‘Destabilize Your Chain of Command’

PANETTA: “Look, we’re in the middle of a war, and the last thing you want to do when you’re in the middle of a war is to destabilize your chain of command. And that’s exactly what he’s doing by cutting 20% of our command structure at a time of war. And these are people who are experienced. They’ve been in battle. They know what the military is all about. They know what war is all about. They’ve been promoted because of outstanding service. And now he’s throwing all of that service and experience out of the window. I just think it’s a way to weaken our military readiness. That’s what he’s doing.”
