FBN’s Varney Slams Mamdani’s Pied-À-Terre Tax: ‘How Nasty Can You Get?’

‘Zohran Mamdani was using this tax proposal to go after the rich, just as he’s done since the inauguration’

EXCERPT:

VARNEY: “Mamdani was using this tax proposal to go after the rich, just as he’d done since his inauguration. Homes valued at $1 million were supposed to pay this extra tax. The mayor sent out 17,000 notices to people who might have to pay, but he didn’t find out if those people were full-time residents. A lot of them were not. Utter confusion. Perhaps worse, the city’s finance department published a list of properties valued at a million. Names and addresses included. How nasty can you get? That is an encouragement to go after the rich personally. He doesn’t like landlords, they’re assumed to be rich. So, he’s pushing for rent, a rent freeze and he’s launched a rental rip-off hearings, highly pejorative, designed to encourage hostility to landlords.”
