Shermichael Singleton: Jack Smith Hearing Is ‘for What?’

SINGLETON: “A lot of our base, working class people, men of color, are struggling, they‘re barely getting by. There are a lot of people who are wondering how their children and grandchildren will get through college and afford a house. And so as a strategist, a Republican one, I want to talk about those issues, the tangible issues that the American people are saying. This is what they want to hear from their political leaders. I could care less about Jack Smith in this particular moment, when we‘re weeks away from a midterm, when I want to focus on drawing a contrast to the other side and figure out what are the policy solutions to resolving the issues that are clearly impacting everybody in this country right now. That must be the focus of my party and the messaging going into November."
COLLINS: "So are you saying that Republicans should not have invited Jack Smith to Capitol Hill today?"
SINGLETON: "For what? I mean, what in the hell are we getting out of this? I‘m just being very honest about this. Paul, you‘ve been at this way longer than I have. You‘re a strategist. You know, when you‘re close to a midterm, what the priorities must be. And so again, my advice, let‘s focus on what‘s going to help us win the election. We gotta turn out our base where there‘s clearly an enthusiasm gap with the other side compared to our people.”
