Trade Rep. Jamieson Greer: The Trade Deficit in Goods with China Is Down by 40%

GREER: “That’s not true at all, Kelly. That is not true at all. It — it was $300 billion coming into President Trump’s term. We’re now tracking to have only a $140 billion deficit with China this year. The trade deficit in goods with China is down by 40 percent. It’s very significant. We’ve greatly diversified. Now, what are we doing? We’re going to other countries to try to manage transshipment and things like that. So, our trade deficit in goods overall is down about 10 percent year-on-year, but with China, it’s down, you know, a third, almost 40 percent.”
