Andrew Weissmann Compares Trump’s W.H. Press Ban to 1930s Germany

WEISSMANN: “The White House could be shut to the press. But once you are going to allow the press in to this room, the White House press room, you cannot pick and choose under the First Amendment based on viewpoint. You can't say the only people I'm going to allow in are the people who are favorable to me. I have given this analogy, which is in 1930s Germany, the German government required journalists before they reported out to the rest of the world what was going on they had to vet all of their stories. That is what an autocratic regime does.”
