We are fortunate to have a very sophisticated, long standing immigrant rights infrastructure, and we also know how to protest and we know how to do it right. I thought it was critically important that the protest took place, that we visibly and aggressively demonstrated that we were not going to tolerate this, because part of the petri dish, Jacob to me was to to get Americans to acclimate, to accommodate, to accept military intervention in the cities on an issue that they thought would be very divisive here. It was not. But the other thing about it is, aside from our unity, all the mayors were also in conversation.”
