I think it sounds to me like someone who well understands that he will lose this decisive, consequential midterm election. He has access to the same empirical data that you and I and every American does. He understands well that his policies have proven to be deeply unpopular, and that Americans are struggling by virtue of, really, the damage that he’s done in the last 20 months. So it is why his language has become more desperate. And of course, the way you described his speech, the kind of incoherent ramblings that he offered in Dallas, Texas, as beyond parody, I think, is an apt characterization. But we ought to take very seriously the ludicrous oath that he demanded that the sycophants who had gathered in Dallas for that convention take. And the reality is that irrespective of the fact that he is very likely to lose this election come November 3rd, that he will deny the results of the election."
