Karl Rove on 9/11: ‘We Confronted Evil in 2001 and We Made Real Progress and Diminished Their Ability’
‘It was a vital moment in the history of our country’
EXCERPT:
ROVE: “And look at Iraq. Iraq is not a democracy, but it’s attempting to be one, and there are parts of that country, particularly Kurdistan, in which America is beloved for having given them freedom from the tyrannical rule of Saddam Hussein. Could you imagine what the world would look like in the Middle East if we had two regimes, Iran and Iraq, both attempting to achieve a nuclear weapon, which was what his goal was? And no, we confronted evil in 2001 and we made real progress and diminished their ability. We were never hit again in the same manner, and that was the goal of the president of the United States to keep our country safe in the aftermath of 9/11.”
