VP Vance on Charlie Kirk: This Was a Guy Who Just Had So Much Life to Live, Who Had So Many People Who Loved Him

‘All of us, I think, have this hole that we’re all trying to fill’

RUSH EXCERPT:
VANCE: "It’s just hard to believe that he’s been gone for a year You know, I mean Charlie was obviously a very dear friend I mean, you know, I’ve kept in close contact and Usha has, with Erica and with the kids And, you know I always just first and foremost think of this as a human tragedy. You know you think about the kids you think about, as a young father myself you know what memories will the kids have of Charlie? I think about, you know, selfishly the ways in which I wish he was around for my own selfish reasons. You know I think about, yeah, man I just really wish I could call Charlie and get his advice on this or I really wish I could call Charlie and get his help on this And, you know, it’s just, you slowly over time realize that you know first it’s you pick up the phone and you dial his number and then you hang up before he answers And the closer you get to this year mark you realize He’s just not there anymore And it’s one of these things where I think everybody grieves differently and everybody responds to it differently. But the way that I just constantly almost obsessively come back to it is this was a guy who just had so much life to live who had so many people who loved him and so many people who relied upon him who depended upon him and we’re all in our own way in some ways big and small obviously the biggest holes for Eric and the kids but all of us I think have this hole that we’re all trying to fill or all trying to at least find some way of making sure that we carry on in Charlie’s absence"
