SHAPIRO: “Well, I mean, I don‘t think it‘s going to happen. But beyond it not happening, I think that we are now in a political period in which both parties have decided that we are simply going to race up our national debt as high as humanly possible, and competitively bid out for votes. So, we can either Medicare for all to the tune of tens of trillions of dollars over time, or, you know, we can promise dividend checks that aren‘t going to arrive to the tune of trillions of dollars over time. Nobody in government at this point is fiscally responsible. Nobody even pretends to be fiscally responsible. And basically, anytime Republicans are openly, fiscally irresponsible, Democrats yell about it. And the opposite is also true. So, great. The debt will continue to rise and no one will actually face down the problem.”
