John Brennan on Canada’s PM Carney Pushing Back on Trump: He Is Doing Exactly What He Needs to Do
EXCERPT:
BRENNAN: “Now, I think countries are having to look at what they can do to push back against Trump and against U.S. actions. You know, we’re using all of our muscularity on the economic, political, military, geostrategic fronts. And so, these countries, whether they’re allies or adversaries, have to think about how they’re going to protect their interests. And that’s why I think Prime Minister Carney is doing exactly what he needs to do. Yes, it may be painful in the short-term in terms of imposing some of these tariffs, and the Canadians are going to pay a bit of a price. But I think if more of them do this, again, you know, and to push back against Donald Trump, there’s going to be less, in fact, impact that Trump is going to have because our international environment, our economy is interconnected, as is our geostrategic interests are interconnected.”
