Sen. Rick Scott: If We Want to Win in November, We Have to Start Acting Like We Care About the Cost of Living

SCOTT: "Well, we're only scheduled to be there three more weeks, and we don’t work all week. So we should we get this stuff done? Should we stay? Absolutely. Are we going to? I would be surprised. But if we want to win in November, we are going to have start acting like we care about the cost of living in this country. We've gotta drive down cost of living. You know, and people act like, 'Oh, you can't balance a budget. I balanced in budget in business. You have to balance the budget. I balanced the budget when I was governor of Florida, balanced the budget about once in 40 years when I became governor back in 2011, we balanced it every year, we ran surpluses every year. Your federal government should be doing the same thing. If you don’t, mortgage rates are going to go up, continue to go up, car payments will continue to go up, interest on your credit carts are going to continue to go up, and the cost of your groceries are going to continue to go up. This has got to get fixed. It makes you mad, actually. I grew up in a poor family."
