Buttigieg: Trump Said He’d Make Things More Affordable and He Did the Opposite
EXCERPT:
BUTTIGIEG: "What’s happening is there are a lot of people who voted for Trump who actually believed him when he said he was going to make things more affordable in this country, and he did the opposite, right? Gas and diesel, highest price we’ve ever had on a Labor Day weekend directly because of his Iran war. Things we buy at the store more expensive, about a thousand bucks per family, directly because of his tariffs. So what we’re seeing is a real opening for candidates and leaders who come in with a different kind of message saying, 'Look, you might have supported this guy because you thought that he was going to make your life better, but here’s what we’re ready to do that would actually make a difference.' And the other thing that I’m seeing is, you know, we’ve got a lot of great candidates that we have recruited, people with working class backgrounds, union members like Brian Poindexter in Ohio, folks who — you know, Bob Brooks here in Pennsylvania, folks who walk the walk. They’re not using their imagination when they talk about what Americans are going through. They’ve lived it, and that really shows on the trail too."
