CNN’s Bash to Rep. Lawler: Why Align Yourself with Trump When His Popularity Is at an All-Time Low?

LAWLER: "It‘s not a function of alignment. It‘s a function of doing the job in order to get anything done, you have to be able to reach across the aisle and also work within your own party. When Joe Biden was president, I was able to get things done when Donald Trump was president. I‘m able to get things done. I‘ve passed over two dozen bills, 17 of which have been signed into law. I‘ve been able to bring back tens of millions of dollars to my district. And I delivered one of the biggest wins for New York by standing up to President Trump. On the issue of salt. And so part of what I will be highlighting in my remarks is the ability to not only agree when we must, but disagree and deliver for my district and stand up for the people that I was elected to represent, including the gorman family, who will be speaking at the convention, and I will be introducing them. Sadly, their 18 year old beautiful young daughter, sheridan gorman, was brutally murdered earlier this year by an Illegal immigrant led into the country under Joe Biden. Arrested in Chicago for shoplifting, released back out onto the street and executed her from behind. Their story is tragic, and they will be sharing their story. And I‘m proud to stand there alongside them and introduce them to the nation."
