Jeff Mason: Trump’s Fast-Track Construction Will Be ‘Hard to Undo’

MASON: "I'll be real curious to see how Democratic candidates respond to that, because surely they’ll be asked, 'What do you do about all the things that the president has changed?' One of the reasons I think the strategy that the president has employed has been just go forward with the ballroom, with the arch, with the Kennedy Center, is he hasn’t faced challenges. And in many ways, construction is different from domestic policy or foreign policy, that a new administration can come in and just chart their own course and do their own thing. When he’s building something like this, this ballroom, it’s pretty hard unless, you know, a candidate comes in and really wants to tear it down with a crane and with a wrecking ball. It’s hard to undo. So that has — I mean, in some ways that was part of, I think, the administration’s argument when it went to the Supreme Court about the ballroom, is we’ve already got 65% of it built. You can’t tell us to turn around. And now they’re going to do the same thing with the arch. They’re not waiting for congressional approval. They're just gonna go ahead and start."
