Paul Ryan Drops Ominous Warning About America’s ‘Fundamentally Unserious’ Populist Politics

‘Most grievance politics, I would argue, is what is being pushed’

EXCERPT:

RYAN: “Our politics changed. We became populist. Both both parties are populist parties. Most grievance politics, I would argue, is what is being pushed. But we became populist parties. And populists believe things like debt reduction, entitlement reform is unpopular. Therefore, we don’t have anything close to the politics we need. But didn’t you get this stuff done? But didn’t you always think, at least I always thought that the bond market ultimately would be the governor of the populists. And that still may be. I mean, I would argue you could say that the I’m not sure the game is over. I’m not saying the game’s not over. I think the bond market vigilantes are revving up. You know, I think more of this is about oil and the straits of hormuz. But we’re seeing the bond markets normalize. I mean, the rates we’re seeing today were rates we used to see.”
