MacFARLANE: "$4 for a loaf of bread. People are not equivocating. They‘re not being subtle what their priorities are. It‘s not the culture war crap. It‘s food can‘t be purchased at the levels you need when you have two teenagers. They can‘t afford college. They can‘t afford health care. Fertilizer costs too much, which means farmers are struggling, which is why Iowa is in play. All of this, all of this transcends the traditional culture war we saw in 2004, and other variants of over time."
