Elie Honig: Looking Back at 2020, White House Strategy Today Remains ‘Let’s Create Chaos’ in the Midterm Elections

HONIG: "Well, Kaitlan, I think the most important word that Jenna Griswold just said is uncertainty. I agree with David when he just said that the legal chaos will be resolved over the next several weeks. But on the ground, in the postal offices, at the state election offices, there will be uncertainty. And if we look back at the 2020 election and the attempt to steal the 2020 election, now we‘ve had time to look back at it. And we‘ve seen testimony and memos, and we‘ve gotten a look behind the scenes, the goal there, the strategy there was not necessarily 'Let‘s steal votes from column A and shift them over to column B,' the strategy, and this was written by some of the president‘s lawyers, was, 'Let‘s create chaos. That will lead to uncertainty, and then the election can get thrown over to state legislatures that might be more friendly, perhaps to the Congress.' And so I think that‘s a practical concern moving forward, even as these cases get resolved in the courts."
