Abdul El-Sayed on Data Centers: We Need Local and State Moratorium, To Make Sure They’re Going to Make the Local Community Rich

‘Until we have terms of engagement that govern how a data center can show up’

EXCERPT:

EL-SAYED: “You know, I reject when Donald Trump says, let data reign, as if communities don't know what's best for them, if we haven't outlined how we're going to protect them from the risks and empower them to have the benefits. And that's exactly what my terms of engagement on data centers is supposed to do. And I think we need local and state moratoria until we have those terms of engagement that govern how a data center can show up to make sure that they're going to make the local community rich, and they're going to protect their water and their utility rates in the process.”
