Byron Donalds: You Don’t Protect Our Water, You’re Not Building a Data Center in Fla.

DONALDS: "Well, first of all, data centers are an issue all across this country. People are concerned. But this is why my position has been very clear. Number one, we’re not — we’re going to protect ratepayers. The people of Florida are not going to pay electric bills for a data center. Number two, we’re going to protect water. Water is a critical resource in every state, especially in Florida. And so to the people who might want to build them, if you don’t protect our ratepayers and you don’t protect our water, you’re not building a data center. That’s my position and I think it’s important for people to know that directly from me. Number three, we’re going to make sure that the resources of our state are protected, and local governments are going to be the ones who are going to make these decisions, not Tallahassee. It’s going to be at the local level where these decisions are going to be made."
