PAXTON: "So, yeah, I’m proud of what I did as — in private business. As a practicing attorney, I had my own practice for 14 years, had my own businesses that I ran all the way up until I ran for Texas attorney general, because in the Texas legislature, we only make $600 a month, so you have to have other jobs. So, you know, I was a successful lawyer, a successful business guy, and I tried to invest money, unlike my opponent who’s not been successful at anything. His job is a consultant for schools. He’s a DEI consultant. He tried to pass a bill to require that schools hire firms like him for diversity training and DEI training. That’s what James Talarico does. He relies on taxpayer dollars for his living whereas I’ve gone out and I’ve taken care of literally thousands of clients. And guess what? When you do a good job as a business person, as a lawyer, and you take care of your clients, they pay you. And that’s how I have made my living. And I’m proud of it, by the way. Very proud."
