Maggie Haberman: There’s a ‘Sense of Grind and a Lack of Having Fun’ in the Trump White House

HABERMAN: "I mean, so there’s I think there’s two different issues there, Jonathan. So one is, as you know, midterm elections are a time when a White House has typically been ruling in any White House, not just this one. Biden’s, Trump’s, obamas, clintons. I can go back and on bush is certainly there’s also a lot of money being made by a lot of Trump advisers on the outside. Jonathan Swan and I wrote about this in the book that, you know, a lot of people started leaving pretty early last year because they saw this money being made and thought, why not me? But there is certainly a sense of grind and a lack of having fun and a lack of sort of common purpose in this White House right now. And you are seeing that in terms of what the president is saying. This is a group of advisors who do believe in him, unlike term one, where they really didn’t know him at all, most of them, they do want to see him succeed. He is not doing much to help himself according to all of our reporting.”
