Jayme Leagh Franklin on Lindsay Clancy’s Suicide Attempt: ‘It Does Not Make Her Any Less Guilty of These Crimes’
RUSH EXCERPT:
FRANKLIN: "Regardless, trace, if she tried to take her life after killing her own children, that should have no bearing on this case. Murder suicides are very common and it does not make her any less guilty of these crimes that she committed. And this is my big issue with the popularization of this insanity plea. First of all, it’s difficult to prove someone state of mind. A lot of these claims are unfalsifiable. And second of all, what precedent does this set, where do we limit this? I think anyone who commits a heinous crime to this degree you could argue is not a mentally stable person. Mentally stable people don’t go out and kill people, especially their children. So this is a slippery slope that could allow other child murderers,, school shooters,"
