Harold Ford on Talarico’s Extremism: Do You Want to Continue Down the Path Trump Is Taking Us, or Take a Different Path with Dems
RUSH EXCERPT:
FORD: "First, thanks for having me on. I think a couple things, bret. I think this is a normal election from the standpoint, Ben was talking about it from the outset. A midterm is generally a referendum on how the party in the White House is doing, and their parties, their candidates in the house and Senate have to deal with the chips where they may fall. As uncomfortable as it may be and Ben’s right, we have the greatest military in the world and they did exactly what they were supposed to do. The challenge is, the regime in Iran is still basically in charge and it may be the worst the regime now in charge. The president standing as Megan rightly said is down. The Strait of Hormuz is not opened fully. I don’t think it’s open really at all and it’s controlled by the Iranians. And we have seen a depletion of some of our munitions. So the president’s dealing with that and he’s trying to explain to voters, independents, Republicans, even Democrats alike like me who believe they should not have a nuclear weapon, who believe the Strait of Hormuz should be open, he’s trying to explain that he’s in the right. And you combine that with high prices on things. Now, the Democrats, they can’t seem to get out of their own way. If they would just stand back and say we’re going to do better, we’re going to remove the tariffs, we’re going to find ways to exert pressure on Iranians without using military pressure and stop talking about the crazy cultural things some of them are and distance themselves from Hasan Piker, we would be in better shape. So these last 67 days I think are going to be a referendum in the minds of voters, do you want to continue down the path President Trump is taking us or do you want to take the chance and go down a different path with Democrats."
