Max Rose: ‘Peak Woke’ Flipped the House and Won the White House for the Democratic Party

ROSE: “Welcome. Welcome to politics. That was not wokeness. That was bad policy ideas. If the definition of wokeness is speaking to cultural issues, defund the police was a bad policy idea that was pursued. But in the end, during what is supposedly referred to as peak woke, we flipped the house and won the White House. So like, this is not how we should be. I think thinking about all of this, this is not a special moment in politics, culture or excuse me, policy has always been downstream of culture. That’s always been the way that this has worked. People always respond to politicians who they align with politically. That’s why they say, hey, I want to have a beer with George bush. I’ll vote for him. Despite the fact that he was a policy maniac in and of himself. So this is this is not anything new. And I think it would be a tragic mistake for the Democrats to throw the baby out with the bathwater, or to think that somehow there’s like a overlearn some lessons here. It really it really would be a tragic mistake.”
