OFFIT: “Well, I talked to a senior official last night from Pennsylvania’s Department of Health, who assured me clearly that measles was responsible for two deaths. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Is the secretary of Health and Human Services. If he wants to, he can dig deep into exactly what the nature of those deaths were. And it certainly is true that it would be nice if we could know exactly the ages of the two people that died, the reasons that they weren’t vaccinated, and what the cause of death was. I think that would make it a little easier for us to deal with a lot of the questions that are coming up. But it was very clear to me that because of measles, two people died.”
