John Brennan on CIA Dir. Ratcliffe’s Secret Visit to Moscow: ‘Not Surprising’; ‘I Travelled to Moscow Twice as CIA Director’
EXCERPT:
BRENNAN: “Well, Jacob, foreign visits by CIA directors really are never announced in advance. And that’s because you want to make sure that you maximize the security arrangements that need to be put in place for CIA director’s visit. I travelled to Moscow twice as CIA director, and neither one was announced. But what I think is happening now is that, given that the Iran conflict is the Trump Administration’s, you know, principal foreign policy headache, and the fact that just this past week, we had the Trump Administration announce the secondary sanctions on those entities, countries and others dealing with Iran. I suspect that John Ratcliffe was sent out there with the message from the White House about the potential implications and impact of these secondary sanctions on Russia.”
