Dem Rep. Clyburn: The ‘SAVE’ in SAVE America Act Stands for ‘Suppress Americans’ Voting Efforts’

CLYBURN: “We saw that with the Callais decision. That was a decision that allowed redistricting to go forward, even though the support — the lower court has said is unconstitutional. That happened in South Carolina a year ago, more than a year ago. Well, it may be, but we‘ll just let it go forward. And that‘s what they‘re doing now. We‘ve got a state, in fact, just about an hour and a half ago, I was on a radio, a Zoom event with people in the state of Washington. 100 percent of their voting is by mail. So, what this court is doing is putting entire electorate in the state of Washington at risk because this administration will do everything it possibly can to suppress the vote. That‘s what the SAVE Act is all about. My acronym is an acronym for — my the title of it is ‘Suppress Americans’ Voting Efforts.’ Suppress Americans’ voting efforts. That‘s what the SAVE Act is all about. And that’s what they’re trying to do, suppress this vote.”
