Jacob Blake on the Kenosha Officer Who Shot Him: ‘I Don’t Think [Officer] Sheskey Is Racist’

BLAKE: "I don’t think that Sheskey was racist. He helped save my life. Yeah, he shot me, but he was the one on top of me, keeping me alive. If he was racist, he would’ve let me die. I pray for that man. I pray for him and his family. (...) He was rubbing me in the middle of my chest teal hard. It hurt, but not more than the other stuff, so it was kinda like — I don’t know if that was something that he had done before or the Lord told him, the Holy Spirit told him to do that at that time, because it was keeping me awake. Every time I’d doze off , he'd do it. I'd get — my eyes get to rolling, he would do that. And he just was saying like, 'Stay with me, don’t go to sleep, don’t fall asleep.' And I was just looking up into the sky, of course, crying. And I wasn’t begging for my life, although I’m — I’m eternally grateful."
