Rep. Krishnamoorthi: Trump’s Planned Tariffs on Canada ‘Are Just Taxes on Americans’

KRISHNAMOORTHI: “No. It’s — look, these tariffs that America is going to put on Canadian products are just taxes. They’re taxes on Americans. And it’s, of course, going to continue to fuel kind of inflationary pressures, which are already brought on by this disastrous Iranian war with $4 gas and, you know, high interest rates now hurting consumers. The other thing is that Illinois is a huge exporting state to Canada. So, the counter-tariffs, the retaliatory tariffs that the Canadians are going to put on American products are going to hit Illinois twice as hard. And so, I totally disagree with Mr. Greer. This is going to hurt Americans. It’s going to hurt Illinoisans in a big way.”
