The Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld compelled speech violates the First Amendment. Our elementary schools should be places where children learn reading, writing, math, music, science, and history. They are not to be places where they're expected to navigate adult topics of sex and gender. I'll repeat that. Adult topics. Sex and gender. Not for children. I'm asking this board to listen to the parents, review what has occurred in this school, ensure compliance with North Carolina law, and provide reasonable alternatives to families who object.
