Tom Rogers to Dems: Going After Companies or ‘Government Supermarkets’ Is Not the Solution

‘Price ... transparency is going to be much more valuable’

EXCERPT:

ROGERS: “There's enormous opportunity to save money, but it's just too hard and complicated. AI could simplify that, provide a personalized pricing mechanism. Yesterday the FTC actually said, personalized AI pricing is going on by retailers, but in the wrong way. They're getting personalized data about consumers and then turning that into a way to drive prices higher because they understand what they really need at a given moment. By comparing all pricing and giving people the opportunity to input rewards, discounts sales, incentives, you have a real price transparency. And price transparency is going to be much more valuable than going after companies because of accusing them of gouging prices or a dominant idea of getting prices down by government supermarkets. The best way to do this is making it easy for consumers.”
