Susan Glasser: Trump Threatening to Bomb Oman Shows He ‘Doesn’t Have a Viable Way Out’ of Iran War
EXCERPT:
GLASSER: “Donald Trump loves to portray himself as this unconstrained, unfettered, you know, most powerful man in the world. And yet, it's very clear that he's backed himself into a corner right now. If anything, I would say what you're seeing is the fraying of the coalition that started the war. He's on bad terms right now with Israel in ways that we can talk about. He's on increasingly worsening terms with his allies across the Gulf, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, which is very vulnerable right now. So the idea that he's going to start to threaten war against Oman, which had played a mediating role in this conflict, again, speaks to an American politician who seems to himself in a corner and doesn't have a viable way out of it.”
