Rep. Chris Deluzio: ‘Horrible’ Conditions on USS Lincoln Are ‘Heartbreaking’

DELUZIO: “It’s just horrible stuff, Lawrence. I mean, these are brave Americans who want to serve. And we have the best sailors and the best navy in the world. Yet you just read through those reports horrible conditions. And they went to sea without port visits longer than any Americans in our navy in modern history, more than 200 days without a port visit is just brutal stuff under any conditions. And remember, they were supporting combat operations, launching and receiving aircraft, doing that around the clock, standing watch. So much more. I mean, it is a lot these sailors are under and the reports now, they’re heartbreaking. And to me, number one gets to the oversight that we have to do in the Congress about the condition for our sailors and marines and more importantly, who was asking questions and Donald Trump’s inner orbit before they decided to start this war."
