KIGHT: "We’ll see. It’s a risky play by the attorneys. We’ll see how this plays out. There is the fact that New York State has a little bit more protection when it comes to double jeopardy issues. It’s clear this is the only route that they see to get some kind of leniency. We’ll have to see whether this ends up delaying the trial in September, the state trial, whether this impacts some of the charges or all of them. It’s a question whether this will work or whether we see these different charges allow for — there are exceptions for the double jeopardy law that allows the state to continue to press charges on the counts of murder as opposed to the charges of stalking."
