Jessica Tarlov on Piker Asking Dems to ‘Defend Him:’ It Might Be Time to Talk About Something Else, the Rebellion Hasn’t Been That Successful

‘I’m sure there will be other candidates who are from a more moderate part of the wing’

RUSH EXCERPT:
TARLOV: "Jessica: yeah. The Hasan Piker news cycle feels like it has been going on longer than the life of my youngest daughter, who is two and a half years old. So it might be time to talk about something else besides Hasan Piker or his influence on these elections. You know, David Crowley, who won the nomination for Wisconsin for governor there said he’s not going to go on Hasan Piker’s twitch stream and he’s going to focus on the voters. I’m sure there will be other candidates who are from a more moderate part of the wing who feel that way, and then there will be others who are more to the left who will continue to campaign with Hasan and keep it as a fresh issue which only feeds, frankly, the right, and Mike Rogers knows that in this Michigan race, that it is something that really hurts Abdul El-Sayed’s numbers, also past comments that el-sayed has made. He is trailing Mike Rogers by four points, and I understand why Republicans want to look to that facet of the fox poll because everything else is a disaster for Republicans except the Michigan race. You have ossof up 13, cooper up nine, brown up eight, Talarico up three, and Jackson up two, and then el-sayed trailing by four. So there is definitely work to do. I just want to say generally speaking about this quote, unquote, rebel wing of the party, the rebellion has not been that successful. It’s one race outside of D.C. Plus 50 districts that somebody to the left of middle of the party has actually won, and el-sayed isn’t even a dsa candidate. He is someone who talks about capitalism, saying I am a capitalist. He is someone who owns property overseas, has a wife who doesn’t accept health insurance. There is a lot of reasons to even make the argument that el-sayed doesn’t fit into the mold, certainly of someone who is cool with abolishing prisons and things like that. It is a very tough road to win this Michigan race, but I am, I don’t think that the socialist craze or the rebel wing has as much wind beneath their wings as they did a few weeks ago."
