VP Vance on Gender Clinic Report: Doctors and the Insurers Were Mislabeling These Treatments in Order to Get Financial Reward

VANCE: "We know that some of the pharmaceutical companies were getting rich by encouraging doctors to prescribe these therapies off-label. And one of things we’ve worked on with Bobby Kennedy, obviously it was just announced and I appreciate you’re covering this is sometimes the doctor’s or insurers are mislabeling treatments in order for them get financial reward even though they weren’t being honest about what their doing because of course, if they were being honest and going to the insurers saying well we’re actually butchering these kids then that might have raised some alarm bells in medical systems instead they said their treating for endocrine disorders or certain pubescent disorder And that was allowing them list medical codes into billing That allowed them make money off this kid’s suffering while simultaneously avoiding any real scrutiny We really see it as part our broader efforts to fight fraud, there’s just so much fraud in our country But unfortunately one of the biggest purveyors or fraud was this small number of doctors people who were getting wealthy by actually doing these procedures on kids lying about medical implications and collecting rewards for it Obviously not most doctor I think most physicians are good people that want do right with their patients but we know some of those doctors were getting a lot money from performing irreversible and untested therapies on kids"
