Marc Elias: Trump Put in Place Another ‘Audacious’ Executive Order Restricting Mail-In Voting
EXCERPT:
ELIAS: "So, Donald Trump put in place an executive order, tried to put in place an executive order last year to take over voting. We sued, others sued, we won, and that was blocked. Then this year, he put forward another executive order. And in some ways, it’s much more audacious because what it seeks to do is to commandeer the U.S. Postal Service to require states to provide that voter data that we’re beating them in court on when they’re trying to go to the states, try to get the states to turn it over to the postal service or else the postal service, wait for it, won’t deliver you a mail-in ballot. So that has now been challenged in court. And the first of those cases to get to the Supreme Court, it was a case brought by Democratic attorneys general, and they won at the trial court, they won at the court of appeals, and the administration is asking the Supreme Court to set that aside. We are all waiting now to hear what the Supreme Court says.
