David Crowley Says Data Centers Should Follow His ‘Beyonce Approach’ Which Means Bring Your Own Clean Energy

‘I want to see them building — more wind power, more solar power’

TRANSCRIPT:

CROWLEY: "Our job is to make sure that we have guardrails in place. These data centers need to pay their own way. They need to pay for the energy infrastructure, the grid infrastructure. And quite frankly, I call it the Beyonce approach. And people keep asking me, what does Beyonce have to do with data centers? But it means 'bring your own new clean energy.' It’s an acronym. And so I want to see them building more and more, more wind power, more solar power, and more battery storage so we aren’t seeing the cost burden as it comes to ratepayers. And so when I look at these data centers, we should be looking at how we can extract as much as possible from these data centers for the rest of the state of Wisconsin versus these data centers extracting our most precious natural resources from the people who call this place home."
