BHATTACHARYA: “The responsible thing to do that Tony Fauci didn't do was to make those concerns that he had public. He was a very prominent public figure. He got a Presidential Medal of Award for the development of the vaccine. He had a responsibility to tell the public what his thinking actually was. And he failed to do that at the time. As well, he leaned into the mandate, denied natural immunity, essentially said that everyone should take this regardless of the benefit-harm calculation. To me, that's the problem. He stepped out of his lane as the head of NIAID, which is supposed to fund the science behind the vaccines, not make recommendations about the vaccines to everybody. When he did so, he had a responsibility to take that really seriously and reflect the scientific debate to the public at large.”
