Sen. Booker Reacts to 400 Non-citizens Voting in New Jersey

‘We’ve got to protect pur voting systems’

EXCERPT:

BOOKER: “Well, we should always have proof of citizenship for voting. But unfortunately, what Donald Trump is pushing is nothing in the SAVE Act would have prevented a clerical error like we've seen in Texas and Oregon and New Jersey. We've got to protect our voting systems. What he's talking about is -- would stop millions of Americans from voting. And he's the captain of this idea that -- the guy literally that told the Georgia official we should find 11,000 votes. I mean, talk about voter fraud. So we take this very seriously in New Jersey. People are stepping up. We have a governor that's saying this is unacceptable. We're going to make sure that we get to the bottom of it. People need to be held accountable. The states, as the Constitution says, should handle their voting. And when there's problems or violations of the law, people should be prosecuted. So we're going to -- we're going to handle the problems in New Jersey. But I hate how it's being weaponized by some people to advance schemes that actually would hurt Americans.”
