Steve Hilton on Karen Bass Blaming Trump for Homelessness Problem: Who Has Been Mayor the Last Four Years?
EXCERPT:
HILTON: "Well, the real issue, it's actually the same point, it's ideology, the ideology that says, 'It is not okay to do anything if they have severe mental health problems. We can't force them to go into treatment if they are addicted to fentanyl or other drugs. We can’t force them to have recovery treatment. We just have to let it all play out because that's our ideology.' I gave it a name in my book 'Califailia.' They say it's compassion. It's not compassion, it's cruelty. What it is, is compassionism, this belief they are behaving like this is compassionate. That's why you end up in this situation. They won't enforce the law. These homeless encampments are illegal. As governor, I will remove them because they are against the law, and then I will make sure we get people into treatment and mental health. Final point on Karen Bass. She put out a statement, as you said, blaming everyone else and then saying, 'Oh, but I am not going to defend the broken system. We need a new system.' Who has been mayor the last four years? What have you been doing? It's such an insult to everybody, the way they refuse to take responsibly for any of their failures."
