Vance: ‘I Think If You Have a Life Like I Have Lived You Have to Have Incredible Gratitude to the Country’

VANCE: “Not a bad life at all, only in America. I think if you have a life like I have lived you have to have incredible gratitude to the country, best way to show that gratitude is to do as good of a job as humanly possible. That is what I write about in the book, this sense that you know, my life has been so charmed, in some ways things have been a struggle but in a lot of ways I have been so blessed. There is the sense that god was always looking out for me even when I strayed from the path, even when I called myself an atheist, that faith that my grandmother had was always there in the background. It enforces an important part of the way I go about my duties today, it is an important part of who I am. It fundamentally illuminates everything about me, and hopefully people will pick up the book and learn a little bit.”
