Adam Hamawy on Testifying as a Defense Witness for ‘Blind Sheikh’: ‘My Patriotism and Service to This Country Is Clear’

‘Any time you run against fascism, and especially if you run as a Muslim in America, you’re going to get attacked’

EXCERPT:

HAMAWY: “I, like many other people, met him and I was in a last minute carpool. And because I had nothing to do with anything, I was called as a witness on events that happened. It wasn’t a character witness. It was just what happened during that — that trip. And I — I have condemned multiple times the violent rhetoric and actions. And my — my patriotism and service to this country is clear. I have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States. And when I’m asked to testify under oath, I believe in our system of justice and laws. And I did that. And I did so truthfully. But they’re trying to change the conversation. The conversation that I’ve been having is that we need to be focusing on what’s here at home. We’re not supposed to be funding atrocities. We’re not supposed to be funding illegal wars. And they want to continue that. And so this is why the attacks are increases, is because any time you run against AIPAC, any time you run against fascism, and especially if you run as a Muslim in America, you’re going to get attacked.”
