Mollie Hemingway on Redistricting: It Failed in Va. And Helped Light a Fire on Republicans in Other States Who Have Shied Away from Gerrymandering

‘Giving Republicans some much needed excitement’

RUSH EXCERPT:
HEMINGWAY: "Yeah hakim jeffreys is  probably correct Democrats will  take the house they only have  to win a few seats as it  currently is situated to do so.  and historically they are  likely to be able to accomplish  that.  but with the Virginia  gerrymanderring effort they’ve  dramatically overreached and  not only did it fail in  Virginia.  it also helped light a fire and  shied away from even as  Democrats did them for a long  time.  there are millions of  Republicans in the northeast  and they are no representation  but Republicans are scared to  do it now you’re starting to  see more and more states do it.  they could get— good dozen  seats out of this.  and more than that it’s giving  Republicans some much needed  excitement.  seemed everything was going  Democrats way.  Democrat voters were very  excited to turn out to vote.  Republican voters not so much.  recently you’ve seen a change  which means the Republicans  could take advantage of this  and have a real fight on their  hands."
